Changes to SAM
Our Selector Assessment Manager (SAM) has undergone a number of changes which are outlined below.
Project security: access and sharing
First and foremost, the security system of SAM has changed. Previously the security level of a project was determined by the folder it resided in. You could put a project in either a Personal folder (only you had access to it), a Team folder (only members of a specified team had access to it) or a Company folder (all administrators had access to it).
Now, when you create a new project, you can decide who, apart from yourself, can access the project. You can choose to share it with everyone (all of your organisation’s administrators), no-one, or with a select few people.
While creating the project, you will find a drop-down box which asks if you would like to share your new project with “Everyone” or if you would like to restrict access and choose specific people who may have access to it, which is activated by selecting the “No-one (I’ll choose later)” option.
Once you have created a new project, and you decide you would like to select certain administrators to share your project, click the “Share” this project button in the light green box in the Project window. This will then take you to a list of administrators you can share with, and you can then either choose to select specific people from this group or select “share with everyone”.
If you think you will always want to share your new projects with the other Administrators in your organisation, you can set the default for all new projects by clicking on “Settings” and then clicking on the tab entitled “Projects”. In this tab you will find a label entitled “New project sharing”, and under this a drop down box which has the option of either sharing with “Everyone” or “No one – I’ll choose later”.
If you select the “Everyone” option, this will automatically allow everyone access every time you set up a new project. If you select “No one –I’ll choose later”, this will automatically deny every other administrator access to your projects. Whatever option you choose can still be overridden by the access rights on the actual project. So for example, if you have chosen the “Everyone” option, but then create a project which you would like to restrict access to, you can do so by clicking on the “Share” button in the light green projects box on the “Project” page, and selecting the administrators who can have access to the project.
Project security: ownership
When you add a new project you automatically become that project’s owner. You can transfer ownership to another Administrator in your organisation by clicking on the “Edit” button in the light green box on the project page. Here you can either add to the notes of a project or change the project’s ownership to another administrator. Changing ownership will affect how you can access the project. By handing ownership to another administrator you are allowing them full control over who can access the project.
SAM Administrators
If you would like to add a new administrator to SAM, you can do so by clicking on the “Settings” option at the top of the page and then clicking on the tab that says “Administrators”. When you set up an administrator you can define the level of access to SAM that they have. Next to the label “Type” you will see a drop down box that has two options in it.
A “Full” administrator is able to:
- Purchase assessment credits
- Add candidates and send assessment invitations
- Create and modify billing groups
- Create other administrators of either type
- Create and maintain email invitation templates
A “Restricted” administrator is only able to:
- Purchase assessment credits
- Add candidates and send assessment invitations
Reference
Some time ago, for those of you who are billing customers, we started including candidate references on your invoice. (We used to show the candidates’ names but we realised this presented a privacy issue for some of our customers.)
Now, you can add your own reference to each candidate. This is searchable to make it easier to find your candidates and will appear on your bill, if you are a billing customer.
Search
Our search feature now allows you to search using the new reference field as well as our internal reference and various other candidate details.
New, in this release of SAM, is the ability to search by assessment status. This means you can, for example, easily find the candidates who have been send assessments but haven’t started.
Another addition is the ability to search for deleted candidates! When you delete a candidate who has been sent an assessment invitation, they disappear out of the system and the assessment credit gets returned for you to use with another candidate. Since we bill you when you send the assessment, we record the deleted candidate’s reference on your bill.
Until now it was difficult to reconcile the assessment to a candidate, but now you can search with the reference and the search will return the candidate’s details, even if they were deleted.
